GameDev01 – Game development session – 2019-05-18
May 18, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm EDT$25
Join in a real live game development session. The topic can change from week to week. Think of this as an opportunity to look over my shoulder and ask questions as we work on something game related. There’s no set curriculum here. It’s pretty much whatever we make of it. I can promise you will have the opportunity to get involved and see how I write code. This is real code that gets committed to Github for the world to see. This is not sample code that’s only a page or two long. This is code that I’ve been working on for months at a time. Some of it can be quite advanced. And some of it can be simple.
Now, when I say advanced, this is the type of code that a principal engineer with 20 years of experience would find advanced. I know because I’ve shown this code to several and they each learned something new.
And for the simple code, this is something that anybody with a basic understanding of C++ will understand. Plus, I try to make things simple as much as possible.
And I’ll also mention that if you become a patron of Take Up Code, then for a regular contribution of just $10 per month, you get as one of your bonuses a free game development session each month. I highly recommend becoming a patron for that one bonus alone. And when you add in the other bonuses, well, it’s a really great way to learn how to program and help support Take Up Code at the same time.
Become a patron and get a free game development session every month
This is an online class that you can attend from anywhere. All you need is a good internet connection and your computer. It will help if you have a large monitor or even two monitors so that you can watch and follow along at the same time. Headphones or earbuds with a microphone are recommended to avoid echos.
This is a live class where you can ask questions if you like. Or you can listen and learn and follow along without asking anything if that makes you more comfortable.
