E42Git01 – How to use Git to keep track of your changes so you don’t lose your work.
July 14, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDTPrepaid through Classes or Patreon
Version control isn’t just for large teams. Learning Git will help you to keep track of all your changes to your project. Each change is a different version. This can save your entire project and every change you’ve made to your project over time in case your computer hard drive crashes. Or in case you accidentally delete files. Or in case you lose your computer. Having a backup copy is always a good idea.
And Git goes far beyond a simple backup. Let’s say that you change your mind about how you want to write your code. Git lets you save your current state in case you ever want to come back to it again.
I know this has happened to me lots of times. I’ll commit my changes just in case even though I’m sure they’ll never be needed. What happens next? Usually about a week later, I’m dragging my old changes back out of Git and feeling very glad I don’t have to rewrite everything.
This is an online class that you can attend from anywhere. All you need is a good internet connection and your computer. It will help if you have a large monitor or even two monitors so that you can watch and follow along at the same time. Headphones or earbuds with a microphone are recommended to avoid echos.
This is a live class where you can ask questions if you like. Or you can listen and learn and follow along without asking anything if that makes you more comfortable.
We recommend that you plan to join a few minutes early to give yourself time to connect. Click the Venue, Virtual GoToMeeting, for details on how to join.
This is the reservation that you can attend as many times as you want once you purchase the class session. If there’s no button below to confirm the RSVP, then this class is not yet available. Classes are usually made available a month or so in advance.
