E42Bits03 – Understand bits and bytes to represent fractional numbers.
June 16, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EDTPrepaid through Classes or Patreon, or buy here
Being able to work with individual bits goes beyond boosting the speed of your application. It lets you manage and keep track of options that would otherwise be too difficult to keep track of in your code. You’ll learn a new way of counting and working with numbers that really follows the same rules we learned in grade school. It’s just that you probably learned things just because “that’s how things are,” instead of learning the simple rules that determine how all placeholder-based number systems work.
To give you an idea, if you’ve ever struggled with Roman numerals with all the I’s and V’s and X’s, then you’ll be glad to learn that this is not what this class is all about. Our decimal system with 1’s, 10’s, and 100’s is not only more natural to us but follows the same rules that computers use.
There’s three parts to this class. This is the third part explaining how computers work with fractional numbers with decimal points in them.
This is an online class that you can attend from anywhere. All you need is a good internet connection and your computer. It will help if you have a large monitor or even two monitors so that you can watch and follow along at the same time. Headphones or earbuds with a microphone are recommended to avoid echos.
This is a live class where you can ask questions if you like. Or you can listen and learn and follow along without asking anything if that makes you more comfortable.
We recommend that you plan to join a few minutes early to give yourself time to connect. Click the Venue, Virtual GoToMeeting, for details on how to join.
This is the reservation that you can attend as many times as you want once you purchase the class session. If there’s no button below to confirm the RSVP, then this class is not yet available. Classes are usually made available a month or so in advance.
